Brief History

Ballinteer Male Voice Choir was formed 17 years ago, and has an active membership of 30.  Weekly rehearsals are held in Our Lady’s Boys School, Ballinteer.  Its musical director is Mr Ray Ryan and its accompanist is Mr Graham Walsh.

In recent years, the choir has performed at international choral festivals in Brittany (2007), Pont-en-Royans, south of Grenoble (2009) and Cornwall (2011).  In 2008, the choir established the Ballinteer International Male Voice Choir Festival.  At the 2nd Festival in 2010, the Lord Mayor hosted a reception in the Mansion House Oak Room for the choir and its overseas guests, Le Choeur d’hommes du Dauphiné.  Phil Coulter was a special guest at the main concert to hear a Ray Ryan inspired arrangement of his rugby anthem, Ireland’s Call.  In 2011, the choir hosted a Danish choir Mandskoret Sonderborg at a special concert in Ballinteer.  Planning has commenced for Festival 2013, and the choir would be delighted to receive membership enquiries, especially from 1st tenors and baritones.
